DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

The role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and performance of the City’s websites and digital platforms. This role oversees both the technical and content related functions of the site, ensuring a secure, accessible, user friendly, and up to date online experience.


Key Responsibilities
 Website Administration
  • Manage day-to-day website operations, including updates, optimization, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Oversee hosting environments, domains, and DNS.
  • Ensure website uptime, speed, responsiveness, and compatibility across devices and browsers.
  • Coordinate with IT teams for infrastructure, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
Content Management
  • Update and maintain website content, pages, and media assets.
  • Support departments or content contributors by reviewing, formatting, and publishing content.
  • Ensure consistent branding, tone, and quality across the site.
  • Maintain site structure, navigation, menus, and taxonomy.
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility and usability standards.
Quality, Compliance & Optimization
  • Implement SEO best practices, metadata, and performance improvements.
  • Conduct routine site audits to identify broken links, outdated information, and technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA/WCAG accessibility guidelines, privacy policies, and organizational standards.
  • Track and analyze website traffic and user behavior using analytics tools, and report insights to stakeholders.
Development& Enhancements
  • Assist in planning and executing website redesigns or major updates.
  • Test new features, layouts, and workflows to ensure proper function and usability.
Collaboration& Support
  • Assist with training, documentation, and support to staff using the CMS or editing content.
  • Manage in coming web-related requests and provide timely problem resolution.

WORKINGCONDITIONS

There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditioning.


Position Duties

EDUCATION 

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field. 
Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable.
Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. 

EXPERIENCE:
At least five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT applications. 
A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skillsets:

  • At least 3 years of experience in XML, HTML, CSS
  • Experience in:
    1. Content Management System (CMS) platform (WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
    2. Adobe products.
    3. Microsoft products (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Forms, etc.).
    4. ITSM ticketing tools such as ServiceNow.

Other Qualifications

Department may administer a skills assessment test.

SALARY INFORMATION

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate’s qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.   


PAY GRADE: 26
