in Anchorage, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Department of Family and Community Services’ Information Technology section is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Student Intern 2 to join its Customer Service (IT/CS) unit. This student internship is a great career development position where you will learn what Information Technology (IT) looks like in the public sector. The primary duties are to create and update incident tickets, document customer issues and resolutions, acknowledge and track ticket assignments, remote into customer computers and extract basic desktop configuration information, prepare equipment for shipping, and support equipment set up and tear down. In addition to the primary duties, there will be ample opportunity to explore more advanced topics, with assistance from other IT staff, to gain additional knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The mission of the Department of Family and Community Services (DFCS) is "To provide support, safety, and personal well-being for vulnerable Alaskans.”
The IT/CS section of DFCS works as a team with Network Services (NS), Business Applications (BA), Project Management Office (PMO), and the Department Security Office (DSO) to keep the department technologically operational and secure.

Position Duties
Student Intern 2
Proof of enrollment in a recognized public, charter, vocational, correspondence, home, or private school program; academic good-standing equivalent to a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0, or higher; eligibility to receive a General Duties Work Permit from the Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development; and, either academic level of participation equivalent to junior year of study, or greater, successful completion of training as a Student Intern 1 with the State of Alaska, or six months of previous paid and/or volunteer work experience.
Special Note:
Academic transcripts will be construed as proof of enrollment.
Student Intern positions may be established and allocated to all job classes within the series. The interns are assigned and perform duties of progressive difficulty and complexity, under diminishing levels of supervision, as the intern successfully completes corresponding stages of the established training plan and evaluative criteria. Vacancies may be filled at either job class depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The department may request reallocation to a higher job class when: the intern completes the approved multiple class training plan and evaluative criteria; the supervisor certifies that the intern has met the minimum qualifications for the higher job class; and, the incumbent is capable of performing at the higher level.
