The mission of the SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB), established in 1966, is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services, and prevention-of-blindness services to South Carolinians who are blind or visually impaired leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence. The IT Systems Engineer ensures the effective development, operation, and maintenance of information technology systems that meet organizational needs. The IT Systems Engineer plays a key role in analyzing requirements, designing solutions, testing functionality, and providing ongoing support. Additionally, the role ensures seamless collaboration with users, vendors, and internal teams, while delivering clear communication and technical documentation.The responsibilities of the IT Systems Engineer include:
Analyze business and user requirements to design IT system solutions that meet organizational goals.
Develop, test, and implement IT systems, ensuring functionality and reliability.
Monitor and maintain systems, troubleshooting issues and performing upgrades or enhancements as needed.
Prepare clear and concise technical reports, status updates, and documentation.

Coordinate with vendors and other IT units to ensure seamless integration of technology and resources.
Follow technical standards, best practices, and directions while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Duties
State: A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Agency: A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Three years minimum experience with network and routing technologies. Two years minimum experience in network and firewall management. Three years of minimum experience in managing MS O365, Azure AD, and AD.
Minimum Qualifications
Up to date CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications are highly desirable. Experienced knowledge of information technology system analysis, design, testing and maintenance techniques. Experienced knowledge of computer or network hardware, software, operating systems, programming languages, or other information technology tools and resources. Ability to solve basic to moderately complex problems and apply critical thinking skills to needs or problems, both individually and as part of a team. Ability to prepare status reports and basic to moderately complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, staff members, and other IT units. Ability to follow technical directions. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
