Junior Accountant

Job Summary

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the Accounting & Finance team under the direct supervision of the Senior Accountant. This role assists with transactional processing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting in a manner that ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This is a mandatory in-person role based in the Lee’s Summit office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes under the direction of the Senior Accountant
  • Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation
  • Perform account reconciliations and assist in maintaining general ledger accuracy
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules as directed
  • Maintain organized and complete financial records and documentation in accordance with company policy
  • Support audit preparation by gathering and organizing required documentation
  • Adhere to internal controls and company accounting policies at all times
  • Attend and actively participate in daily in-office collaboration with the accounting team; this role requires full-time, in-person attendance at the Lee’s Summit office and is not eligible for remote work
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Reliable transportation

All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
  • Previous internship or accounting work experience
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or progress towards certification)
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements
