This position will report to the Plant Controller in Green River, Wyoming.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide accounting support across month-end close, account reconciliations, and ad-hoc accounting projects
• Develop into a fully cross-trained accountant capable of supporting capital accounting, royalty and production tax, cost analysis, and financial reporting workstreams
• Maintain consistency and quality across journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers prepared by the broader accounting team
• Compliance with Company Financial Standards, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Activities:
• Support site safety initiatives
• Prepare assigned journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications during month-end close
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations; assist other accountants in maintaining consistent reconciliation quality and documentation
• Support capital accounting activities, including AFE review preparation, CIP roll, fixed asset additions and retirements, and Policy 70.09 documentation
• Support royalty and production tax processes, including Ad Valorem, Severance, Federal/State/UP royalty calculations, and Advance Minimum Royalty (AMR) tracking
• Support plant cost analysis, variance research, and the monthly cost reporting workbook
• Assist with disclosure work, audit support, and process documentation
• Provide rotating support to the Accountant team on close, reconciliations, and ad-hoc requests
• Act as a flexible resource for Plant Controller-led projects, including process improvement, system implementations, and special analyses
Skills, Capability, and Educational Requirements:
• Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited 4-year college or university
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook); willingness to develop advanced Excel and Power Query skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes quickly
• Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Master of Accountancy or MBA from an accredited college or university
• CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA certification
• Internship or coursework experience in audit, tax, or industry accounting
• SAP or Oracle exposure
• Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, or other data analysis tools
