GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Business Intelligence & Data Systems Manager, the Junior Business Analyst supports Goodwill’s business intelligence initiatives by developing dashboards, maintaining reporting datasets, and delivering operational analytics across multiple departments. This position is responsible for implementing reporting solutions that support day-to-day operations and align with established data governance standards and reporting practices.
The Junior Business Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, reliable, and meaningful data to support performance monitoring, operational improvement, and informed decision-making throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and datasets using business intelligence tools to support enterprise reporting needs.
- Translate business and reporting requirements into clear, accurate, and user-friendly visualizations and analytical outputs.
- Analyze data to identify trends, performance insights, and operational issues, and present findings through reports, dashboards, and other reporting tools.
- Support the development, maintenance, and consistent application of operational performance metrics across departments.
- Monitor data quality, accuracy, and completeness within reporting datasets, and perform routine validation and reconciliation to ensure reporting integrity.
- Maintain reporting documentation, metric definitions, and related standards to promote consistency and reliability in analytics deliverables.
- Produce and maintain recurring operational reports for Retail, Finance, Risk Management, Operations, and other business areas as assigned.
- Respond to routine report modification requests and assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis needs across departments.
- Collaborate with department stakeholders to understand reporting needs, gather business requirements, and support effective reporting solutions.
- Assist with implementation of reporting tools, data integrations, and ongoing improvements to the organization’s business intelligence capabilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence.
- Experience working with data visualization or reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.

POSITION INFORMATION:
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.
WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment
- High adaptability required. Work environment is usually hectic (fast-paced) with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical situations.
