About this role
The Junior Network Systems & Platform Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organizations IP network platforms and associated systems. This role assists in ensuring platform stability, supporting lifecycle management activities, and contributing to the accuracy of operational tools that maintain the organizations inventory and configuration source of truth. The position also participates in automation and modernization initiatives using AI assisted development and coding tools.
Responsibilities
- Support the monitoring, maintenance, and administration of IP network systems, platforms, and operational tools.
- Assist with software, firmware, and hardware upgrades across network and platform infrastructure.
- Contribute to maintaining high accuracy and low error rates within inventory and configuration source of truth systems.
- Perform routine system health checks, patching, configuration updates, and validation activities.
- Troubleshoot basic issues related to network platform performance, system behavior, or infrastructure components.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, operational procedures, and system changes.
- Utilize AI assisted development and coding tools to support automation and workflow optimization.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement operational improvements and adhere to established best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Information Technology or Engineering and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- Associate's Degree preferably in IT and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.
- Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) or network automation frameworks, required.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn in a technical environment, required.
- Foundational understanding of IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, VLANs, and network protocols, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of network systems, servers, virtualization, and monitoring platforms, preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in automation, AI assisted development, and modern network engineering practices, preferred.
- Demonstrated written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Driver's License Required
- Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- Ability to read small print and symbols
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
