Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve estimating tools, templates, and systems to drive accuracy, speed, and scalability
- Lead the evolution of estimating capabilities, including identifying and implementing new tools or technologies
- Maintain comprehensive and current price books for standard products, coordinating updates to reflect changes in pricing or product availability
- Coordinate with sales and engineering to deliver customized offerings that support both customer requirements and company objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with the purchasing team and third-party suppliers to obtain quotes for vended material
- Use historical project documentation for preliminary member sizing
- Review architectural drawings and specifications to make informed estimates
- Identify potential project risks or deviations from project documents
- Establish and document best practices, workflows, and training materials for estimating processes
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping of projected costs while developing a continuous feedback framework aimed at improving estimating procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
Education and/or Experience
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent schooling/work experience in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating or steel fabrication performing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
Travel
This position requires minimal to no travel
Computer Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data modeling, cost analysis, and tool development)
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software

- Able to work well in a team setting as well as independently
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization, customers, and suppliers
