Job Summary
The Lead Payments Advisor serves as a Trusted Advisor for clients and prospects. While focused on working capital and payments solutions, this role will utilize the full breadth of Key's product platform, which includes traditional bank products, credit, investment banking and capital markets executions, to drive value for the client and Key. The Payments Lead will drive the financial performance of the team through profitable revenue growth, deepening and increasing the number of deposit, credit and capital markets relationships with new and existing clients and employing strong risk management discipline. The Lead Payments Advisor also serves in a leadership role, guiding a deal team, mentoring junior team members and overseeing the successful execution of larger and complex transactions and embodying Key values.



Responsibilities

  • Builds strong relationships at the CFO and CEO level and serves as a Trusted Advisor to clients, by developing a clear and holistic understanding of the client or prospect’s business through analysis of their management and operating practices, portfolio dynamics, and business strategy, in the context of the current industry/economic climate, and then crafting value-added solutions, ideas and advice. Viewed by the client as a valued business partner.
  • Provides the client with knowledge and access to the breadth of Key’s product platform which includes: deposits, payments, credit, investment banking, interim and permanent credit facilities, cash management, interest rate management, syndications, debt capital markets, private banking, etc
  • Possesses sufficient product knowledge to educate the client on Key’s capabilities, effectively identifies potential opportunities and facilitates the introduction and coordination of product partners.
  • Serves as deal team leader, coordinating efforts and working closely with several Relationship Managers as well as our internal and external payments partners
  • Proactively manages a deposit and payments portfolio to both maximize profitability and control risk through consistent and timely identification, resolution and escalation of issues and concerns.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the KeyBank bankers and leadership to acquire, expand and retain business clients
  • Manage portfolio to deepen existing relationships through proactive identification of integrated solutions to unmet client needs. Partner with KeyBank RM's in identifying opportunities for clients and prospects. Build and maintain strong networks with Centers of Influence (COI's).
  • Partners effectively with Credit, Product Partners, Servicing, and other partners identify cross-sell opportunities and deepen client relationships as well as solve internal obstacles and deliver a seamless execution.
  • Develops focused strategies for retaining, growing, acquiring and in some cases exiting client relationships based on the business strategy.
  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen, functional, technical and credit expertise and effectively transfers this knowledge to team members; provides coaching and mentoring to others within the organization.
  • Takes an active role in onboarding and training new team members and partners.
  • Enables successful execution by embracing all business development processes and proactively identifies and communicates areas for continuous improvement.
  • Participates in community and professional organizations which enhance our expertise and profile.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business (Accounting, Finance, Economics) or Technical Sciences (Computer Science, Engineer, Physics) (preferred)


Experience Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Payments experience, ideally within Real Estate or relevant industry with complex entity structures (required)
  • Understanding of the importance of balancing business development, risk management and servicing (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work and lead effectively within a team to deliver comprehensive solutions to our clients and achieve financial and risk management goals (preferred)
  • Experience working as a lender (preferred)
  • Experience in a product role or working in the financial technology industry (preferred)
  • Prior Management and Leadership experience (preferred)


Tactical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to influence C-Suite level and present transformative business solutions, ROI and value propositions
  • Ability to effectively utilize consultative and strategic solution selling skills and deliver products and services by defining needs, matching the value proposition, and closing the deal
  • Thorough understanding of client financial and business operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial concepts, payment processing, commercial banking operations and supply chain management
  • Proven ability to manage a client portfolio and define and execute on a growth strategy
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage projects, strategies, and timelines to accelerate sales activities.
  • Self-motivated and ability to participate effectively in highly collaborative, cross-functional deal teams
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability

Physical Demands

  • General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.


Travel

  • Routine and frequent travel to include overnight stay.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $116,000.00 - $216,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
