Our rehabilitation programs provide ongoing care and specialized treatment to patients throughout their recovery journey. We offer customized, individualized rehabilitation tailored to the specific needs of those recovering from a stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury. Eastern Iowa Rehabilitation Hospital strives to maximize the health, function, and quality of life of those we serve through comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation programs.
How you’ll contribute
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:
- Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
- Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
- Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
- Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
- Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
- Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
- Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
- Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
- Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should be graduates of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program and have a current state LPN/LVN license. Additional requirements include:
CPR/BLS Certification
ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire
Iowa Mandatory Reporter – Dependent Adult and Child
Preferred Qualifications:
Six (6) months of Medical/Surgical experience
