About this role
Passport Health - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Travel Medicine
This isn't a traditional nursing role and that's exactly the point.
Passport Health is North America's largest travel medicine and immunization provider, with 300+ clinics across the U.S. and Canada. We're looking for experienced LPNs who are ready to step out of a high-pressure hospital or traditional clinic setting and into a role built around autonomy, specialized expertise, and genuine one-on-one patient connection.
What Makes This Role Different:
Most of our nurses work independently - no charge nurse, no team overhead, no endless task lists. You manage your day by seeing your clients, and providing them with the best experience possible. You will be supported by a network of clinical leadership, but the day-to-day is yours.
Travel medicine is a specialty. You'll develop deep expertise in vaccine-preventable diseases, international health risks, and pre-travel health planning - knowledge most nurses never get to build. Every client interaction is a true consultation, not a check-the-box encounter.
Current Opening Details
- Location(s): Vancouver, WA, 98662
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Compensation: $32.00/hr
- Weekly Hours & Schedule: Monday - Friday; Saturday rotation (monthly or biweekly)
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- 401(k) Retirement Savings Options
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
What You'll Do
- Conduct in-depth travel health consultations and educate clients on destination-specific risks
- Administer vaccines per standing orders and monitor for adverse reactions
- Recommend and promote travel health products and medications as clinically appropriate
- Manage clinic setup, inventory, and compliance with safety and documentation protocols
- Support onsite corporate wellness or vaccine clinic events as needed
- Complete ongoing travel medicine training - we invest in keeping your clinical knowledge current
Various Passport Health locations support immigration-related medical services, including civil surgeon exams and required vaccinations for USCIS applicants. At these clinics, performing immigration physicals and maintaining strict USCIS documentation compliance is a required part of the role. Training is provided, but attention to detail and comfort with regulated documentation workflows is essential.
Scheduling - The Honest Picture
Passport Health uses a census-based scheduling model, similar to what you may have seen in hospital or outpatient settings. Full-time hires are guaranteed 32–40 hours/week, and we build toward 6–12 months of forward visibility so you can plan your life around a known schedule window.
Here's what that means in practice:
- Your hours fall within a guaranteed 32–40/week range as a full-time hire
- We create a schedule offering 6–12 months of consistency, so you have a clear, forward-looking view of your work
- Flexibility — covering preferred days, weekends, or willingness to work multiple locations — is the fastest way to move toward the higher end of that range
- Peak travel season (typically February–August) generally brings the highest, most stable volume
What You Need to Succeed
- Active LPN/LVN license in good standing
- Compact (multistate) LPN licensure accepted, where applicable - you must legally reside in the state where you are licensed and providing care
- 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (travel medicine background a plus, not required)
- Comfortable working independently - you won't always have backup in the clinic
- Strong patient communication and education skills
- Reliable access to a personal computer (training systems require desktop or laptop)
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed (up to 25 lbs)
Ideal For Nurses Who
- Are adaptable - comfortable shifting gears between high-volume and consultative modes
- Want the range of both clinic types without switching locations
- Are reliable for weekend coverage and flexible with scheduling
Ready to Apply?
If you're an experienced LPN who's ready for something different - a role where your clinical judgment is trusted and your patient relationships matter - we'd love to hear from you.
