PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

To operate trucks, tractors, and other special delivery equipment in accordance with Company safety rules and guidelines. Load and unload trucks, trailers, and railroad cars; and perform all other related work as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To drive trucks, with or without trailers, and other delivery equipment for the pick-up and delivery of equipment or materials such as transformers, poles, structural steel, cable, and debris.
• To load and unload trucks, trailers, and railroad cars, with or without the use of such equipment as power winches, truck booms, dollies, and platform hoists.
• To make minor repairs and adjustments to trucks, tractor trailers, and to practice good housekeeping of all vehicles.
• To prepare reports and records, such as daily time reports, tool charges, mileage, and condition of vehicles.

JOB SCOPE

• This job is part of an automatic progression series, and if accepted, you will not be able to bid out to another job or school as you will be auto progressed to Mechanic B in 2 years and then to Mechanic A once you complete 2 years as Mechanic B.
• EXTERNAL POSTING NOTE: This position requires participation in the local union and payment of union dues.
