Executive Director | Massachusetts
Lead a High-Performing Multi-Site Organization
The State Operations Leader will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving business results, developing senior leaders, improving operational performance, and executing long-term strategic initiatives. This leader will balance operational excellence with financial stewardship while fostering a culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
We're looking for a business-minded executive who understands how to build scalable operations, lead through change, develop high-performing teams, and deliver measurable results.
Operational Leadership
- Provide executive oversight for a complex, multi-site operation serving communities across Massachusetts.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives that improve operational performance, efficiency, and service delivery.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability measures across the organization.
- Utilize data and key performance metrics to drive decision-making and operational improvements.
Financial Leadership
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for a significant operating portfolio.
- Develop annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, productivity, and key business metrics to achieve financial objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins while maintaining exceptional operational performance.
Growth & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives.
- Evaluate new market opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, and service expansion opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, referral sources, government agencies, and community partners.
- Position the organization for long-term, sustainable growth.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing executive and operational leadership team.
- Build organizational capability through succession planning and leadership development.
- Foster a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and employee engagement.
- Lead organizational change initiatives with transparency and purpose.
Quality, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure operational excellence across all locations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives and risk management strategies.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced executive who has successfully led large, geographically dispersed operations while delivering consistent financial and operational results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience.
- LCSW or LICSW preferred
- Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-site operations with full P&L responsibility.
- Proven experience building and developing high-performing leadership teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational planning.
- Experience driving organizational growth through strategic planning and execution.
- Exceptional communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to lead through change while maintaining organizational performance and employee engagement.
Preferred Experience
Experience leading operations within one or more of the following environments is preferred:
- Healthcare
- Human Services
- Behavioral Health
- Senior Living
- Home & Community-Based Services
- Multi-site Healthcare Operations
- Other highly regulated, service-based industries
Industry experience is valued, but we are equally interested in accomplished executives who have demonstrated exceptional operational leadership, business acumen, and the ability to scale complex organizations.
