Duties

Performs final and in-process inspections on large caliber weapon components, assemblies, castings, and forgings utilizing a wide variety of standard measuring and testing equipment.,Verifies dimensions using set-ups, a knowledge of shop math and dimensioning principles.,Communicates orally and documents in writing (with operators, manufacturing supervision, and support organizations), any problems that impede the production of repetitive defect free work.,Technical responsibilities of the inspector include accuracy of documentation, maintaining monthly International Organization of Standardization (ISO) reports.,Records results of examinations and test on permanent inspection records identifiable to item inspected.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Machine Tool Work Inspector without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WG-10 Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must reflect experience which shows your ability to do the work of a machine tool work inspector without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Performing dimensional inspections on manufactured components or assemblies; (2) Reading and interpreting shop drawings; and (3) Utilizing standard measuring equipment, such as micrometers, and calipers or other measuring tools. WG-11 Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must reflect experience which shows your ability to do the work of a machine tool work inspector without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Performing in-process and final inspections on manufactured components or assemblies; (2) Reading and interpreting shop drawings; (3) Utilizing standard measuring equipment, such as: micrometers, and calipers or other measuring tools; and (4) Applying shop math to ensure accuracy. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions. There is frequent moving and lifting of parts and equipment. Required to lift/carry items weighing up to 44 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lift of 45 lbs and over. Requires good vision to inspect close tolerances. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is generally done inside in areas that are well lighted, heated and ventilated with concrete or wood floors. The inspector may work in areas that are drafty, hot, poorly lit, noisy and dirty. Inspector is subject to grease, scrapes, cut and bruises. Continuously wears safety glasses and safety shoes.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This is a Term appointment not to exceed (NTE) 2 years and may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years.
