The Macy’s Technology Summer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while exploring a potential engineering career within our organization. What You Will Do
- Work alongside mentors and experienced engineers in an agile environment.
- Contribute to clearly defined projects that drive innovation and business impact.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leaders across the organization.
- Gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and development areas, including:
- Software Development: Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Angular.js, Vue.js, React.js, SRE, etc.
- Mobile Development: iOS, Swift, Android, SDK, etc.
- Cloud Development: Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
- Compute and Operations: Python, SQL, Unix/Linux, etc.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
Technical Proficiency & Programming Knowledge – Able to apply knowledge of programming languages (Java preferred), operating systems, and data processing to solve real-world challenges. Demonstrates coding proficiency and an interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance problem-solving, innovation, and business outcomes.
Software Development Lifecycle Understanding – Familiar with Agile or similar methodologies, with the ability to contribute effectively to iterative development projects.
Analytical & Business Acumen – Able to analyze data to identify trends, inform decisions, and understand the intersection of technology and retail business strategy.
Collaboration & Communication – Skilled in working with cross-functional teams, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
Leadership & Initiative – Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and the ability to take ownership of tasks while driving results through collaboration and influence.
Detail Orientation & Execution – Maintains strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate, high-quality work and dependable follow-through.
Who You Are
- Rising seniors majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with strong academic performance are encouraged to apply. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
