Overview
Looking for an exciting and rewarding career in hospitality maintenance? Key West Historic Inns is seeking an Engineer I to join our Engineering team and play an important role in maintaining the comfort, safety, and overall experience of our guests.
As an Engineer I, you will support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of our historic properties by performing routine maintenance, responding to repair requests, troubleshooting issues, and helping ensure equipment and facilities operate safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, learning new skills, and taking pride in creating exceptional spaces for both guests and team members.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair work throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls
- Troubleshoot and assist in repairing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance issues
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as assigned
- Maintain equipment and tools in safe working condition
- Assist with property projects, room turns, and upkeep of hotel facilities
- Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns proactively
- Complete work orders accurately and timely
- Support hotel operations while minimizing disruption to guests
- Follow company safety standards, policies, and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1+ years of maintenance, engineering, facilities, or related experience preferred
- Hospitality or hotel maintenance experience is a plus
- Basic knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and guest service skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work in varying conditions
- Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as business needs require
