About the Department
Position Duties
Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties:
•Operates large equipment, vehicles, utility vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, front-end mowers, push mowers, weed eaters, blowers, manual pumps, bulldozers, backhoes, tractors, lawn mowers, trimmers, and chainsaws to carry out maintenance of the grounds and nature trail. Properly uses tools ranging from common hand and blower tools, such as hammers, hoists, drills, and wrenches, to precision measurements and electronic testing devices.
•Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Utilizes attachments such as sweeper, loader fork, and front loader. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. Estimate repair costs.
•Performs periodic safety checks to ensure a safe and clean environment and to eliminate hazards.
• Maintains grounds in a clean and orderly manner, including mowing and trimming. Trim tree branches.
•Performs general road maintenance tasks.
•Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of the site's equipment, including plumbing, wood repair, and changing breakers and power receptacles. Performs maintenance of facilities, grounds, and support facilities.
•Makes general repairs to the building's Interiors and exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioning, heating, systems, and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting tasks.
•Cleans the interior and exterior of facilities at the site. Stocks site buildings with cleaning and household supplies.
•Collects fees from visitors.
•Answers telephone Inquiries. Provides Information and answers inquiries for site guests.
Position-Specific Details:
Location: Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.**
