Maintenance Repairman 2 (DGS, Bureau of Facilities Management Employees Only)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Maintenance Repairman 2 performs skilled and semi-skilled work that supports the upkeep, repair, and safety of Commonwealth buildings and equipment. This role involves carpentry, plumbing, electrical tasks, inspections, and general building maintenance across a wide range of needs. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Carpentry Work: Repair structures, install partitions, and perform tasks that support building upkeep
• Painting Duties: Prepare surfaces, apply finishes, and maintain painting tools and equipment
• Plumbing Tasks: Fix leaks, open drains, change parts, and assist with complex plumbing repairs
• Electrical Support: Replace fixtures, clean lenses, and help with electrical maintenance and repairs
• Equipment Repair: Complete minor fixes on small machinery and report larger issues to the manager
• Safety Inspection: Check emergency equipment, support fire drills, and identify building hazards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Organization or Location Restrictions:

• This posting is restricted to Department of General Services, Bureau of Facilities Management employees only. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding. If no applicable union-covered bidders apply, other applicants may be considered.
