About this role

As a Manager, Church Communications, you will help tell the story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by developing strategic communications, strengthening relationships with key audiences, and providing trusted counsel that supports Church leaders and advances the Church's worldwide mission.

In this role, you will collaborate with senior Church leaders and communication professionals to develop communication strategies, provide meaningful insights, and build relationships with government, community, media, and other influential leaders. Through thoughtful communication and strategic engagement, you will help foster understanding of the Church and its mission while supporting key initiatives around the world.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, Church Communications, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategic communication initiatives that strengthen relationships with key audiences.
  • Write and edit a variety of communication materials, including press releases, feature stories, speeches, position papers, and training resources.
  • Respond to media inquiries and promote Church news through traditional and digital communication channels.
  • Research social, political, economic, and cultural trends to provide strategic analysis and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Develop communication resources such as presentations, videos, press materials, and other public affairs collateral.
  • Train Church leaders, Public Affairs Directors, and missionaries on effective communication and public affairs principles.
  • Coordinate communications for significant Church events, including General Conference, temple open houses and dedications, Tabernacle Choir events, and other major Church initiatives.
  • Build and strengthen positive relationships with government officials, community leaders, media representatives, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing and implementing communication strategies for sensitive issues and crisis situations.

Qualifications

We are looking for a communications professional who combines exceptional writing and relationship-building skills with strategic thinking, sound judgment, and a passion for supporting the mission of the Church.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Government Relations, International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Seven or more years of experience in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Media, Marketing, Government Relations, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, build consensus, and cultivate trusted relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to represent the Church with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with Church organization and priesthood governance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business, presentation, and communication technologies.
  • Accreditation through the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is desirable.
