Visit us online at: https://www.nwths.com/careers Position: Manager - Human Resources POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, Human Resources provides support to the leadership team and staff concerning all areas of human resources, including performance management, employee relations, recruitment and retention, salary and wage administration, benefit administration, worker’s compensation, leave management, unemployment administration, payroll administration, orientation and onboarding. Responsible for oversight and coordination of compensation programs. Provides employee relations guidance to leadership team including disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans and terminations Responsible for recruitment and retention programs. Responsible for mentoring and coaching assigned staff by providing on-going training as necessary to assure communication of common issues/concerns. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and assists with management of external complaints. Supports the development and execution of workforce strategies that enhance employee engagement, retention, succession planning, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Provides leadership and oversight for Human Resources operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, service excellence standards, and strategic objectives. Supervises, develops, coaches, and evaluates Human Resources staff while promoting a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Serves as the HR business partner to leaders and managers by providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness. Oversees recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure appropriate staffing levels and workforce stability. Leads compensation administration activities, including job evaluations, market analyses, wage recommendations, and implementation of compensation programs in collaboration with corporate resources. Collaborates with benefits administration and corporate partners to support employee benefit programs and employee communications. Proves guidance and recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, investigations, and terminations. Conducts or oversees employee relations investigations and ensures timely and appropriate resolution of employee concerns and complaints. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, accreditation requirements, corporate policies, and regulatory standards. Oversees leave administration processes, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and other protected leave programs. Partners with department leaders to identify workforce trends, staffing challenges, succession planning opportunities, and retention initiatives. Develops, analyzes, and presents HR metrics, workforce data, turnover reports, vacancy reports, and other key performance indicators to leadership. Manages unemployment claims, employment-related legal matters, audits and responses to external agency inquiries. Oversees the maintenance, security, retention, and disposal of employee records, in accordance with legal and organizational requirements. Collaborates with Occupational Health, Employee Experience, and organizational leaders to support employe engagement, training, leadership development, and a positive workplace culture. Assumes responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the Director of Human Resources. Participates in organizational projects, policy development, process improvement initiatives, and system implementations related to Human Resources functions. Perform other duties as assigned. For additional information visit www.uhs.com Qualifications Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required: Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7 years direct HR experience, with supervisory/management experience of 3-5 years. License/Certification: PHR/SPHR OR SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively manage, develop, coach, and hold accountable a diverse HR team while fostering a culture of engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Advanced knowledge of human resources principles and practices, including employee relations, recruitment, retention, compensation, benefits, administration, performance management, succession planning, and organizational development. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, OSHA, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and other applicable healthcare employment requirements. Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to conduct investigations, assess risk, recommend corrective actions, and resolve workplace issues professionally and confidentially. Demonstrated ability to partner with leaders at all organizational levels to provide strategic HR consultation, workforce planning, and change management support. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret workforce metrics and trends and develop actionable recommendations. Advanced proficiency in HRIS systems (Lawson, Workday, or equivalent), applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and reporting tools. Demonstrated expertise in compensation administration, market analysis, job evaluations, and pay structure management. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive employee and organizational matters. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to lead HR initiatives from planning through implementation. Knowledge of healthcare workforce trends, recruitment strategies, employee engagement practices, and retention programs.
