Deaconess Illinois Medical Center is seeking a strong, people-focused Nursing Leader to oversee our Medical/Surgical unit. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who thrives in a fast-paced acute care environment and is passionate about leading teams, improving outcomes, and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
Job Overview
The Nursing Manager – Med/Surg is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the unit. You’ll guide your team in delivering high-quality care, ensure adherence to clinical best practices, and create a safe, efficient environment that supports both patients and staff.
This role also includes staff leadership, budget oversight, quality improvement, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff; manage staffing and schedules.
- Patient Care: Oversee patient care, ensuring adherence to evidence-based protocols for neurological conditions.
- Quality & Safety: Lead quality improvement initiatives, monitor patient outcomes, and ensure safety standards.
- Resource Management: Manage unit budget, staffing, and supplies; ensure effective resource use.
- Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement care plans.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and safety procedures.
- Patient/Family Support: Provide education and support to patients and families regarding neurological care.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current IL state license.
- BSN required or able to obtain within 3 years of starting
- 3-5 years of nursing experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Required: Certifications/Licenses/Experience:
- Active Registered Nursing license in the state of Illinois
-Three years previous management experience preferred
-At least five years previous experience in a clinical setting
Compensation:
Hourly range $36.30 - $54.44
Bonus:
Potential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.
Incentives:
Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
