UPMC Health Plan and WorkPartners are hiring a full-time Manager, Strategic Account Services to join the Absence Client Services team. This role follows a hybrid schedule with three in‑office days per week at the U.S. Steel Tower—Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday—and includes both local and nationwide travel to client locations. This position is eligible for commission.

The Manager is responsible for the portfolio of its client relationships and managing the account management team, establishing goals, expectations, and processes for execution. The Manager will profitably manage a growing client list and identify and cultivate new business opportunities with both existing and new clients.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop, manage, and mentor the account management team and direct reports in the teams' daily workflows and activities. Passionate about delivering thought leadership, insights, and new solutions externally to clients and internally to the Workpartners organization. Manages a growing team of Account Managers and coordinators and sets the strategic vision for the overall account management team. Coordinates service to all levels of clients.
  • Coordinates service programs in collaboration with other lines of business. Assists in the development of strategic plans for expansion into new states as determined by senior leadership. Assist in new business meetings and renewal meetings. Establish appropriate goals and takeaways from meetings and hold appropriate parties accountable to the conclusion. Assist in marketing the account services to all agency leadership.
  • Establish long-term business relationships at the highest organizational levels within the account to increase sales through value-add business partnerships. Ensure structured feedback mechanisms/metrics are in place to measure success and to achieve customer satisfaction levels of sold and implemented services. Sets appropriate expectations with the account management team and clients to build and enhance client relationships. Profitably manages a growing annual portfolio of business. Ensures proper execution and delivery of set annual revenue and profitability targets.
  • Establishes and reviews account managers? key deliverables to ensure they are on time and our strategy meets external client and internal business expectations. Strives for flawless execution in data analysis and client reporting ensuring reporting is delivered on time and correctly. Lead and manage strategic client planning meetings, contract renewal discussions, monthly and quarterly client reviews, and stewardship presentations collaborating and integrating across the Workpartners organization. Develop and implement a long-term account strategy. Collaborate with the service team to identify and analyze risks and determine mitigation plans. Collaborate with sales to develop and implement strategies and programs to increase organic sales growth.
  • Assures success measures are clear at the onset of program implementation and measurements of the program are met throughout the contract. Drive towards successful completion of the agreed upon project deliverables within scope, on time, and on budget while consistently exceeding client expectations. Collaborate with clients and partner agencies to develop and deliver programs and services that meet or exceed the needs of the client and the end customer. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to travel within and outside the state of Pennsylvania for onsite client meetings, sales opportunities, seminars, conferences, and/or special assignments. Responsible for mentoring and/or supervising staff Complete annual performance appraisals and make appropriate merit increase recommendations. Maintain necessary staffing resources including recommendations to hire and termination.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 7+ years of experience in a client-facing role required. 
  • Prior insurance, healthcare, or benefits experience is a bonus. 
  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Drivers license strongly preferred.
