Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer Co-op to join our team. This role is ideal for current students in their 3rd year or above seeking hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing within a dynamic and collaborative aerospace organization. The position is expected to a full year with Full-Time hours during the summer and part-time hours while school is in session.
Working with experienced professionals in the Manufacturing Engineering Department the ideal candidate will be responsible for working in a safe manner, adhering to all company safety policies, be a champion for safety, contributes to the success of manufacturing operations by working with Manufacturing Engineers and Leadership teams in the design, development, and update of manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, routers, travelers, and projects in methodologies to achieve business objectives.
This internship is on-site and can be part-time (20+hours/ week) or full-time, with the schedule determined based on availability and course load.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works in a safe manner, adheres to safety policies and procedures, and ensures those working in the same area are working safely.
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel to understand and document existing work procedures.
- Updates work instructions, routers, and travelers as required.
- Conducts and documents necessary training with manufacturing personnel relating to work procedures.
- Assists in defining more efficient manufacturing processes for controlling product quality with optimal manufacturing throughput.
- Partners with manufacturing personnel create documented video training for various machining assets and writing SOP’s.
- Assists with continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through defining new manufacturing tooling and procedures.
- Partners with personnel of designated support area(s) to contribute, lead, and achieve 6s projects.
- Work to establish efficiency improvement processes within maintenance and/or with machine set-ups.
- Create presentations to report on current projects to the Leadership team.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
- Ability to perform and interpret statistical analyses.
Required Experience:
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment a plus as a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op/Intern
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, and Vizio.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Frequently work near heavy machinery or equipment
- Demands of a manufacturing environment
Required Education:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or university.
