About this role

The Marketing Manager, Food & Beverage and Pulp & Paper, leads strategic marketing efforts for key Manufacturing & Processing market segments across the USCA region. This role drives market growth by developing and executing segment strategies, conducting market and competitive analysis, capturing Voice of Customer insights, and identifying opportunities for innovation and commercialization. Working closely with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Technical, Quality, and Marketing Communications teams, the Marketing Manager develops value propositions, supports product portfolio optimization, and creates programs that increase customer engagement, brand awareness, and business performance. The position also serves as a market expert, providing industry insights, influencing growth strategies, and supporting long-term profitability and market leadership.

Additional Information:

This is a remote position and will be expected to travel at least 30% of the time. The candidate for this position can be located anywhere in the US, near a major airport.

Responsibilities

The Protective & Marine Division is seeking a candidate with extensive experience in the high-performance coatings industry, excellent strategic marketing skills, and strong communication skills to foster cross-functional collaboration between internal stakeholders. 

 

  1. The Protective & Marine Division is seeking a candidate with extensive experience with high performance coatings with strong strategic development skills.  This role is for the USCA Food and Beverage & Pulp and Paper  sub-segments in Manufacturing & Processing of the Protective & Marine Division – this role is responsible for subject matter expertise, strategic development, knowledge transfer, market awareness, industry trends, leadership, and digital ownership effectively aligning resources with opportunities to drive top line growth, gross margins, and profitability, and understanding policy/regulations.

     

  2. Support development and execution of UCSA Food and Beverage & Pulp and Paper strategy and tactical plans – working closely with Sales (Sales Directors and Managers, APMs, PDMs, KAMs,), Research and Development, Technical, Product Management, Quality and Marketing Communications to reach and exceed financial goals, relative to sales and profitability.   

     

  3. Capture and utilize Voice of Customer (VOC) to drive segment marketing and communications strategies, value proposition messaging and tactical plans.

     

  4. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats (e.g., track government policy/regulations, environmental policies and national/global market segment trends; develop contingency plans for market volatility or market shifts). Recommend tangible action items to impact the segments’ growth direction based on market knowledge and developments.

     

  5. Participate in strategic development of communication and selling tools to increase segment value proposition awareness and utilization internally and externally. Tools include but are not limited to sales activations and training, marketing and communication campaigns, technical content, internal/external presentations, etc.

     

  6. Identify, explore and recommend innovative technologies for development and commercialization within the North America Food and Beverage & Pulp and Paper segments. Monitor and recommend tactical actions to increase existing product sales at all points of the product/portfolio lifecycle within the focus segments.

     

  7. Coordinate with global teams on market growth strategies, owner projects and brand consistency.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience in business-to-business sales and/or marketing.
  • Must be willing to travel as required for this position.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in business or marketing

  • Have ten (10) years of experience working in the industrial coatings and/or Food and Beverage & Pulp and Paper industry in a marketing, sales, account management or development role.
  • Have ten (10) years of experience working with cross-functional teams of product, technical, marketing and sales professionals.
  • Experience successfully launching new products through a rigorous approval process.
  • Understanding of competitor products is currently in specifications and Sherwin-Williams equivalents.
