About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Marketing Director to lead customer communications strategy and execution for Merchant Services. This role is responsible for developing clear, compliant, and customer-centric messaging across marketing and service communications, while ensuring alignment with brand standards, regulatory requirements, and business priorities. The leader in this role will balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, driving high-impact campaigns and overseeing critical communication processes in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end communication planning and execution for high-priority and often confidential initiatives, including defining objectives, key messages, target audiences, tactics, and timelines

  • Own the customer communications strategy, processes, and controls across Merchant Services, ensuring alignment with brand voice and customer value proposition

  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to deliver simple, clear, and effective customer communications

  • Oversee merchant agreement documentation, including terms and conditions, product addenda, and onboarding content, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance

  • Ensure all communications reflect current pricing, legal requirements, and payment network rules while simplifying complex language into clear, customer-friendly messaging

  • Manage direct mail and mass email campaigns, including content development, variable data setup, and execution

  • Maintain and govern inventory of marketing and communication assets, ensuring proper approvals, documentation, and record retention

  • Ensure all materials adhere to Wells Fargo brand standards, writing style guidelines, and regulatory expectations

  • Drive continuous improvement of communication processes, enhancing efficiency, quality, and customer experience

  • Balance creativity and agility with strong quality assurance, proofreading discipline, and attention to detail

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior individual contributors, fostering a high-performance, results-oriented culture

  • Influence senior leadership and stakeholders through clear insights, recommendations, and strong executive communication

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Platforms, or Social Media experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

  • Expertise in professional writing and editing, with a passion for clear, concise, jargon-free financial services messaging

  • Deep understanding of Wells Fargo brand standards and writing guidelines (AP-style or similar)

  • Knowledge of Merchant Services products, operations, and customer communications lifecycle

  • Experience with regulatory and risk frameworks, including RCSA, and working within Legal and Compliance requirements

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans while also driving tactical implementation

  • Experience managing direct mail and email marketing campaigns, including operational execution and delivery

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams

  • Results-oriented mindset with strong initiative and ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex environment
