About this role
As our Area Director of Catering, you’ll be the maestro behind the magic, ensuring your catering squad hits their sales goals and keeps our hotels buzzing with delicious events! You’ll manage a talented team, delight clients with unforgettable experiences, and keep an eye on those all-important food and beverage numbers. Collaborating closely with hotel leaders, you’ll help drive revenue, wow meeting planners, and fill tables at two or more properties. Leading at least three full-time team members, you’ll spend your days making executive decisions, inspiring your crew, and keeping the good times rolling—more than half your time spent on the big-picture stuff that keeps everything running smoothly.
KEY SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scorekeeper & Revenue Rockstar: Boost meeting planner satisfaction and closely monitor event revenue, food, and beverage goals—striving for top marks every time!
- HR Hero & Team Builder: With guidance from GM and HR, hire, train, and inspire your team—motivate, communicate, and celebrate successes while confidently addressing challenges.
- Contract Commander: Expertly manage catering contracts—negotiate smartly and create memorable experiences for clients.
- Community Connector: Stay current on market trends, engage in local organizations, and lead creative promotions to spotlight your properties.
- Communication Champion: Work closely with marketing and internal teams, deliver timely banquet orders, and ensure smooth, friendly, and service-focused events.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- At least 6 years of progressive hotel catering sales experience or equivalent education and related experience.
- Strong creativity and expertise in food, beverage, and event management, plus advanced hospitality sales and marketing knowledge.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and professional selling skills to influence clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer operations, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Proven leadership and analytical skills to manage diverse teams, solve complex problems, interpret financial data, and a valid driver’s license.
