About this role

Master trainers are responsible for teaching and guiding new hires during their training period to ensure successful completion of production skills in their assigned departments. They are additionally responsible for continued development of team members’ job knowledge and skill sets after they are qualified in their initial position. Master Trainers are expected to be the primary example of appropriate behavior, attitude and respect for others while using a continuous improvement mentality and to perpetuate a Team Cheesecake culture through attitude and actions.

 

Master Trainers work directly for the Training Manager and are not part of the production work center. They do, however, collaborate with production shift managers and supervisors to identify training needs, schedule and conduct appropriate training in their respective departments, and advise the shift managers and supervisors in matters related to training. On occasion of need in the department, Master Trainers may occasionally be tasked with providing direct labor assistance with approval from the Sr. Manager of Learning and Talent Development or the ECB Plant Director

 


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company standards and policies are properly trained and maintained to support company goals.
  • Provide support and clear explanations of product specifications and expectations to new hires.
  • Provide training for new and existing employees being trained in skilled and unskilled positions in accordance with applicable training manuals.
  • Provide continuous follow-on training, coaching and mentoring with employees to ensure proficiency and compliance with specifications and organizational policies.
  • Schedule and administer certification quizzes with for employees who have completed their training.
  • Track and evaluate all assigned employee training progress toward certification for both initial and skilled positions.
  • Coordinate with department shift supervisors and certified trainers to ensure proper scheduling and placement of trainees on the line areas where training needs to occur.
  • Communicate regular updates regarding trainee progress to the shift supervisors, line leads and training department leadership.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors and managers to identify areas of skills gap to ensure training is provided to close those gaps.
  • Effectively generate, maintain, and implement weekly and daily training schedules for the employees in the department to which the trainer is assigned.
  • Coordinate line and skilled position training for new hires with department supervisors, line leads and certified trainers.
  • Ensure all workplace safety, GMP, food safety and housekeeping policies and expectations are being met by all trainees, including the proper wear and usage of PPE.
  • Make recommendations to Operations, and Training department leadership regarding training needs, progress, and concerns.
  • Develop and promote positive working relationships with supervisors and managers from Operations and all support departments.
  • Accurately maintain all required training documents and records.
  • Any additional duties as may be assigned by the Training department leadership.

  • Expert Communicator: you are able to read, write, and communicate in English/Spanish as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Minimum of (1) year of service with the Bakery
  • Previous experience as a certified trainer with the Bakery
  • No disciplinary actions taken against the candidate by the company within 3 months of application to become a certified trainer and/ or no negative performance appraisals in the most recent performance review
  • Thorough knowledge of bakery standards
  • Extensive job knowledge and depth of knowledge in all areas of the department assigned; staff member must be certified in all areas of their work area of specialty
  • Previous training experience preferred
  • Ability to teach, coach and develop others to build job skill proficiency
  • Ability to build professional relationships and influence others
  • Clear communication skills – verbally and in written form
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive and professional manner
