The Material Controller for the Plate Yard will be required to receive, identify, locate, retrieve and sort materials.
- Responsible for tallying types and quantities of items against receiving reports, material move tags, packing slips and shipping documents
- Locate material according to size, shape, weight or stock number and palletize material securely to pallet boxes, etc
- Will be required to operate the rotary (15k) lift
- Will be required to safely burn shapes material with a torch (Oxy Torch)
- The individual will be required to work outside in all types of weather conditions
This position requires work to be performed outside; involves adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/snow/rain/wind, etc.)
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility
in North Kingstown, RI location.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent or 2 plus years of related technical experience
- 1 plus years of Material Control experience
- Previous Forklift experience
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to timely obtain a license for electric, propane or diesel fork lifts with a capacity of up to 30 tons
- Must be available to work all shifts, and work in extreme temperature & weather conditions as required
- Ability to interpret shipyard procedures, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams
- Must be able to handle/lift heavy items within the safety guidelines
Preferred:
- Knowledge of metal types
- Basic knowledge of MRP/material tracking system
- The ability to operate various burning equipment
- Military/Navy experience
- Previous military experience
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Shipyard experience
- Must possess basic mathematical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must have strong commitment toward safety
