PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Materials Clerk
  • Receives and offloads deliveries.
  • Deliver and offload material and equipment to project teams at ORNL, Y-12, and various other offsite locations.
  • Perform annual inventories of personnel property.
  • Process and disposition excess materials and equipment.
  • Transport materials via trucks, forklifts, etc. 
  • Routinely lifts, moves, and transports 30 lbs.
  • Must be capable of using the appropriate PPE for the work being performed.
  • Must possess the ability to function alone or as a part of a team.
  • Report unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions to supervision and/or Facility Management.
  • Work only on the systems, devices, and activities for which they are trained and authorized.


Education: High School diploma or equivalent


Prior Training or Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years demonstrated experience in warehousing operations.
  • Documented, verifiable experience using inventory tracking software.
  • Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain a Q security clearance or the ability to obtain the same. 
  • Ability to participate in physically demanding work.
  • Working knowledge of general math.
  • UCOR forklift certification is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle is preferred. 
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.


Functional Requirements:

  • The functional requirements necessary to perform the duties for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.
  • Use the appropriate PPE for the work being performed.
  • Able to lift 30 lbs., climb ladders, work at elevated surfaces, etc.
  • Ability to understand environmental, safety, and health requirements applicable to work at a DOE facility.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor activities in all weather conditions to include extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
  • Be physically able to do considerable walking, lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, carrying, etc.
  • Must be able to work in radiologically controlled environments.

  • As qualified, perform less complex monitoring, surveying and sampling on the project and its environs.
  • Implement the day-to-day programmatic aspects of the Radiological Protection Plan under the supervision of a qualified RPT.
  • Support generation of radiological data and reports.
  • Support RADCON personnel in activities in compliance with written work plans, protocols, and procedures under the supervision of an RPT.
  • Must satisfactorily meet the training and certification requirements
