Job Description:
The Material Supply Controller supports the receiving, tracking, and distribution of materials, chemicals, and compressed gases for university departments. This entry-level position plays a key role in ensuring safe and efficient material handling, accurate recordkeeping, and timely delivery of supplies and gases to campus customers.
Under general supervision, this position assists with daily operations, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures compliance with university policies and safety regulations. The incumbent will also serve as a backup to the Gas Cylinder Driver, assisting with deliveries, cylinder exchanges, and gas order coordination as needed to support Gas Services operations.

$22.40 - $23.44; DOE
Essential Duties:
Assist with receiving, labeling, and distributing materials, chemicals, and compressed gases to various university locations.
Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, deliveries, and returns within established tracking systems.
Support daily operations of Gas Services by assisting with cylinder exchanges, deliveries, and customer requests.
Serve as backup to the Gas Cylinder Driver during absences or high-demand periods, ensuring timely and safe transport of gas cylinders across campus.
Help monitor cylinder stock, usage, and return activity to maintain proper inventory levels.
Follow all safety and compliance procedures for handling, storing, and transporting hazardous materials and compressed gases.
Communicate effectively with university departments and suppliers to address delivery issues, delays, or discrepancies.
Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in storage and handling areas.
Participate in periodic inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned to support Materials Management and Gas Services operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic understanding of inventory control and material handling practices.
Ability to safely lift and move gas cylinders and materials with or without assistance.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
Good communication and teamwork skills to support coordination across departments.
Willingness to learn and follow procedures related to hazardous material handling and transportation.
Ability to operate a university vehicle and follow delivery routes as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a supply chain working environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database, inventory and warehouse operations
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in a variety of settings, including an environmentally controlled office, warehouse and storage areas, and outdoor environments during receiving and distribution or material handling. Work requires extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; frequent standing and walking moderate distances; and regular movement between office, warehouse, and delivery locations.
Duties involve bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling materials up to 75lbs, and occasionally heavier items. The role includes driving a university vehicle for deliveries and pickups, requiring safe operation and adherence to university and regulatory driving standards.
Regular activities demand the ability to quickly shift priorities, manage multiple tasks, and resolve conflicts in a professional manner. Clear verbal communication, along with the ability to read, write, see, and hear effectively, are essential to perform the functions of the position.
