THE POSITION
The Mechanic Supervisor position with the Department of Transportation gives District 1 employees a strong opportunity to step into a leadership role. This job allows you to guide daily repair work, support a skilled team and help keep essential equipment ready for roadway operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supervises mechanics and coordinates repair, maintenance and inspection work for a wide range of equipment used in transportation operations. As a Mechanic Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Repair Supervision: Direct mechanics performing repairs on vehicles, tools and construction equipment
- Diagnostic Guidance: Assist staff with identifying equipment problems and selecting repair methods
- Safety Oversight: Ensure shop areas are clean and safe and reinforce proper safety procedures
- Work Management: Assign tasks, review performance and provide coaching to staff
- Equipment Support: Maintain inventory, purchase parts and assist with major repair projects
- Record Keeping: Review work orders and maintain accurate documentation for equipment repairs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Shifts may vary and overtime will be required based on seasonal needs
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Organization or Location Restrictions:
- This posting is restricted to Department of Transportation, District 1 to include Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Forest, Venango, and Warren County employees only.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake (L) and E (Manual) Restriction Removed.
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 4 or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
- This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- An active CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate
