This full-time position offers daylight hours Monday through Friday, with schedules of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, promoting a healthy work-life balance. The Medical Assistant will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care by rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, pre-charting patient information, assisting physicians during exams and procedures, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, and performing scope cleaning according to established protocols. This role requires approximately 20% travel to support operational needs. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ESend/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPrepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EComply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPerform phlebotomy, EKG%27s, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAnswering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EObtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
