JOB SUMMARY
Assist registered nurses and anesthesia team in obtaining clinical records and reports to successfully prepare patients for procedures and surgeries. Works under general supervision of the Pre-Surgical Assessment Charge Nurse

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent. 
     

Preferred

  • Experience
    2 years experience in a legal office or hospital environment and 
    1-2 years experience working with EMR systems 
    Previous experience in the handling of patient health information and/or medical records is strongly preferred 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Provide customer services support in a call center environment
  • High call volume of contacting doctors' offices and clinics
  • Obtain necessary documentation from outside parties as needed, e.g. cardiac reports, operative reports, progress notes
  • Complete and timely scan patients electronic records
  • Verifies patient identification on every page of each patient medical records
  • Respond to requests for medical records from registered nurses and the anesthesia team
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Oversee storage scanning and retention of records
  • Schedule Pre-Surgical Assessment Clinic appointments
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
