Description:

The Medication History Pharmacy Technician is a certified pharmacy technician who supports the patient care team by obtaining and documenting an accurate list of medications taken at home and in an outpatient medical setting for patients being admitted to the hospital and patients receiving surgical care at IU Health Arnett Hospital. This role involves conducting thorough interviews with patients and their families, as well as contacting outpatient pharmacies, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers to verify medication information.

The technician enters the good faith effort medication list in the electronic medical record, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with organizational standards and is available for pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare providers to support treatment planning, medication orders during hopsitalization, and post-discharge care.

We desire technicians with 3-5 years of recent retail experience who have good organziational skills and strong multitasking skills. Candidates must have good oral and written communication skills, be comfortable with patient interactions and communicating with providers and pharmacists as well as telephone interview interactions with the patients we serve. 

• 2+ years relevant experience preferred.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires working knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires effective customer service skills.
• Requires intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications. High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
