Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and interpret metallographic samples according to customer specifications for heat treats, audits, special projects, and customer approval packages.
  • Maintain accurate traceability records for all incoming metallographic samples.
  • Segregate scrap samples and alloys into designated bins by alloy type.
  • File microstructures (“micros”) into storage boxes with clearly labeled ranges and dates; organize and store boxes neatly in the warehouse.
  • Perform 100% audits of daily Heat Treat and HIP charts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate willingness to advance through Level I–III certification programs.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or 2+ years of college preferred.
  • ASTM training or certification in heat treating or metallography is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and sit for extended periods as needed.
  • Technical report writing experience with advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze specifications, cut-up diagrams, and metallographic features.
  • Commitment to following all departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
