The Role:

Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a Metrology Particle Retention Co-Op to join our team for the Fall 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing reliable measurements to support internal R&D projects and external customer needs by performing, developing and optimizing analytical methods for routine and non-routine analysis. This co-op position will focus on developing and validating new retention methods to evaluate new and existing filtration technologies to benefit semiconductor manufacturing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform particle retention testing using Fluorescence spectrophotometry, ICP-MS, UV-vis, GPC and other techniques to support general lab operations
  • Support on the development of new retention methods to evaluate current and next-generation products
  • Perform validation studies on new and existing methods to ensure reliability and repeatability of data
  • Collect, interpret, and review experimental data regularly with the Metrology team and present project progress in group meetings.

What We Seek:

  • Commitment to safe laboratory practices and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
  • Basic understanding of scientific processes and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, problem-solving skills, and good communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience with analytical equipment (ICP-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS, LPC, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry, statistical analysis, nanoparticles, membrane-based separations, or process improvement is a plus.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:

  • Sophomore or above pursuing a degree in chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
