About this role
The Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired is a statewide project under the Florida Department of Education, serving students with visual impairments. Seeking candidates with experience managing a warehouse-type environment, including shipping/receiving and inventory management. Position requires excellent communication skills, use of technology, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and problem-solve. Experience with printing services preferred; position may assist with the production of large print textbooks and other tasks as needed. This is a 12-month, 8-hour day position. FIMC-VI is currently located at Monroe Middle School, 4716 W Montgomery Ave, Tampa, FL 33616.
Summary:
The Manager 2, will perform general managerial duties in any of a large variety of departments and functions. The Manager 2, duties are performed under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor who evaluates performance through observation of work, periodic conferences, critiques, and/or records and reports.SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities:
· Plans, organizes, budgets, staffs, coordinates, controls, and directs assigned resources to accomplish department objectives.
· Establishes policies relating to operational procedures and administration of assigned personnel.
· Arranges subordinate functions and assigns responsibilities.
· Evaluates manpower needs; identifies shortfalls, recruits, interviews, and trains new personnel.
· Reviews work of subordinates and provides guidance, clarification, and motivation.
· Monitors quantity and quality of work produced through audits, inspections, reports, expenditures, etc. and institutes corrective action where needed.
· Coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient flow of communications and service.
· Determines funding requirements, prepare budget documents, monitors status of allocated funds, and controls expenses.
· Assumes the authority of and acts on behalf of a more senior official.
· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience a management position directly involved in the supervision of personnel, material resources, or large amounts of funds. Experience as described above may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the educational requirement. A master’s degree or higher in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field may substitute for one year of the experience requirement.
Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
