Duties
Duties: The Operations Supervisor is responsible for a vehicle and operations budget of over $1,000,000. He/she is required to track the maintenance and have primary responsibility and inventory control of 196 VA Owned and GSA Leased vehicles. Responsible for several national vehicle data bases including the Federal Automotive Statistical Tool (FAST), requiring monthly input of vehicle usage information into GSA Fleet programs. Responsible for management of the vehicle fleet's Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking system. This system combines instantaneous vehicle location, speed and diagnostics information for all 196 fleet vehicles. The incumbent of this position manages all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of Medical Center Grounds including moving, trimming, grounds, repairs, excavation, plantings, and winter snow removal operations. The Operations Supervisor coordinates work through other Facilities Management Trades (i.e., Plumbing, Electrical, Structural Maintenance, Boiler Plant, etc.), to ensure that work orders and other tasks relating to transportation and grounds maintenance are completed in a timely manner. The incumbent serves as a member of the Medical Center's Pollution Prevention Team, and is responsible for portions of the Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) and Pollution Incident Prevention Plan (PIPP). He/she will also perform duties as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) over various service contracts in conjunction with transportation and grounds issues including the GPS Tracking System, Grounds Fertilization, Fuel systems testing and filtering and Road Salt. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/10/2026. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent's work requires good vision. The incumbent's work requires sustained sitting, standing, stooping, and bending for prolonged periods of time. Incumbent must have the ability to differentiate the basic colors of traffic control. Incumbent must be able to lift 50 pounds and possess a high degree of physical endurance to withstand strain caused by vehicle vibration and engine noise.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
