Reports to: Chief Communications Officer/ Deputy Communications Officer 

Position Summary 

The Louisiana Legislature is seeking a creative, highly organized, and public service-oriented Multimedia Specialist to join the Legislative Communications Office. As an integral member of a collaborative communications team, this position helps tell the story of Louisiana's legislative process, primarily through exceptional professional digital photography and videography, video production, and graphic design. 

The ideal candidate is an experienced visual storyteller who thrives in a sometimes fast-paced environment, produces high-quality video and photography content under tight deadlines, and understands the importance of professionalism, accuracy, and impartiality in public service. This publicly funded position serves all members of the Louisiana Legislature regardless of political affiliation. Every project should reflect responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources while providing timely, accurate, and meaningful information to the people of Louisiana. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Collaborate closely with members of the Legislative Communications Office to develop coordinated communications strategies and multimedia projects. 
• Operate and maintain professional camera, lighting, video, audio, and podcast equipment. 
• Capture professional-quality photography and videography of legislators participating in legislative sessions, committee meetings, press conferences, and constituent activities. 
• Produce compelling video content (often on tight deadlines, particularly during regular or special legislative sessions), including interviews, podcasts, legislative highlights, informational videos, and short-form social media content. 
• Assist with studio productions, multi-camera recordings, livestreams, and other multimedia productions as assigned. 
• Develop engaging content for social media platforms, websites and presentations, including reels, stories, and other multimedia products that increase public awareness of legislation, constituent services, and the work of elected officials in improving the lives of Louisiana citizens. 

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.

Experience using:
• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Adobe After Effects (or comparable motion graphics software)
• DaVinci Resolve (optional but valuable)
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe InDesign
• Canva
• ShootProof or comparable digital asset management software

Additional experience with:
• Podcast production
• Social media content creation and management
• Motion graphics and animation
• Digital asset organization and file management
• Mirrorless camera systems, lighting, and audio equipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• A commitment to public service, government transparency, and communicating the value of effective, responsive government to Louisiana's citizens.
