Position Summary
Ensure products meet established quality standards by examining and testing at various stages of the production process.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) including Ultrasonic Shear Wave, Thickness, Visual and Magnetic Particle testing. Level II preferred; trainees considered.
· Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
· Measure product dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
· Read blueprints, manuals, and inspection procedures to determine requirements.
· Record inspection and test data.
· Mark items with grade or acceptance-rejection status.
· Notify supervisors of production problems and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Classroom training in NDT methods: UT, VT, MT.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic shop mathematics.
· Experience in heavy structural fabrication and blueprint reading.
· Proficiency in operation of welding equipment.
· Current CWI and/or Level II NDT certification preferred.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
· Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
· Occasional bending, squatting, or crouching.
· Ability to work in cold, heat, and humidity.
Safety Requirements
· Adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
· Maintain orderly and clean work areas and attend safety meetings.
· Inspect equipment and tools daily and use them safely.
· Wear appropriate PPE for specific tasks.
