Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s overnight operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing exceptional guest service during evening and early morning hours. This role combines front desk responsibilities with accounting duties to reconcile daily transactions and prepare reports.
Pay rate for the night audit position is $19/hr.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
- Greet and assist guests with check-in and check-out procedures
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Handle reservations, cancellations, and room assignments
- Provide information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment during overnight hours
Financial & Audit Responsibilities
- Perform nightly audit of all hotel transactions and postings
- Reconcile daily revenue, payments, and guest accounts
- Balance cash drawers, credit card transactions, and other payment methods
- Prepare and distribute daily financial and operational reports
- Verify accuracy of room rates, discounts, and packages
- Post room charges and taxes to guest accounts
Operational Duties
- Monitor property security and conduct routine property walk-throughs
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams as needed
- Prepare next-day reports and ensure systems are reset for the new business day
- Maintain organized records and documentation
- Handle emergency situations in accordance with hotel policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Accounting preferred)
- Previous front desk, customer service, or hotel experience preferred
- Basic accounting knowledge and strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and Microsoft Office
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Work Requirements
- Ability to work overnight shifts (typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds
