Requirements: Valid Class C driver’s license. Ability to obtain and maintain the required California Highway Patrol (CHP) driver certification (VDDP-Vehicle Driver Disciplinary Program) within 4 months of employment. Ability to successfully complete behind‑the‑wheel training and skills assessment within 4 months of employment.
Location: Brea
Hours: Full-time - Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - Must be flexible to work outside program hours for special events.
Hourly Starting Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour *plus full benefits*
*We provide CPR/First Aid certification for Adult Day Services*

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Provides safe and reliable transportation services for adults with disabilities to and from designated locations. Operates non‑commercial vehicles in accordance with all applicable safety, regulatory, and organizational standards. Supports passengers with professionalism, courtesy, and sensitivity to individual needs, contributing to a consistent, respectful, and person‑centered transportation experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Safely operates non‑commercial vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, California Vehicle Code requirements, and ESSC policies.
- Conducts required pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
- Operates vehicles with a maximum passenger capacity of nine (9) individuals; the driver is counted as the tenth occupant.
- Operates paratransit vans with a gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds.
- Transports passengers to assigned program sites on a daily basis and during scheduled outings as required.
- Ensures the health and safety of passengers by following all ESSC safety standards and California Vehicle Code policy and procedures.
- Maintains accurate pre‑use inspection logs, safety documentation, and daily mileage records.
- Promptly reports accidents, incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for passengers at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned based on program needs.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Valid Class C driver’s license.
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (can be obtained through Adult Day Service post hire).
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required California Highway Patrol (CHP) driver certification (VDDP-Vehicle Driver Disciplinary Program) within 4 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience operating multi‑passenger vehicles with a weight capacity of up to 10,000 lbs. preferred.
- 2 of experience in non‑commercial paratransit operations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Ability to pass required background checks and fingerprint clearance through Community Care Licensing, if program‑required.
- Ability to successfully complete behind‑the‑wheel training and skills assessment within 4 months of employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, with all levels of staff and the general public.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision‑making in safety‑sensitive situations.
- Ability to properly interpret and implement all policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of GPS systems and route navigation.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively. Ability to walk, stoop, stand, kneel for extended period of time. Ability to push/pull wheelchair on a variety of terrain.
- Ability to pass post‑offer medical examinations as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ADA:
- Carrying/Lifting: Frequent/ Up to 70 lbs.
- Standing: Frequent/ Up to 4 hours per day.
- Sitting: Occasional/ Up to 3 hours per day.
- Walking: Frequent/ Up to 4 hours per day.
- Travel: Yes.
- Repetitive Motion/Activity: Ability to walk, stoop, stand, kneel for extended periods of time.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to view computer monitor and read newsprint.
- Environmental Exposure: Constant exposure to unpleasant or hazardous working conditions (noise, heat, dust, bodily fluids, etc.) Indoor/outdoor environment.
