The Critical Care APC works in a collaborative model including a team of physicians, BCM residents in training, pharmacists, nursing and other support staff who care for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic patients who are in our medical/general surgical ICU.
Responsibilities:
Utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of patient care. Including clinical evaluation and management and being proficient with bedside Ultrasound POCUS and performing critical care procedure including central venous and arterial lines, endotracheal intubation and thoracenthesis/Paracenthesis.
Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned area.
Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care.
Provides education for patient families, staff, and other health professionals.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Required Qualifications:
- Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
- Prior experience as an APC of at least one year in a medical or surgical ICU.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish
Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $109,500 - $164,000. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
