Description
Summary
Provides licensed nursing direction for all health care components of the assisted living program, including supervision of the resident care team and medication program, as delegated by the Director of Wellness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Make observations of residents, their conditions, and any changes. Record and notify appropriate parties.
· Communicate with resident support network (including physician, family members, and others) regularly.
· Chart on review of resident health concerns. Maintain alert charting process.
· Provide each resident with their physician-ordered medication regime.
· Ensure physician orders are carried out and correctly charted in the appropriate flow sheets.
· Administer medication as required and chart medications immediately.
· Enter new medication orders on the medication record.
· Discontinue medications as ordered on medication record.
· Order all medications, including those needed for treatments, and special formulas used in supplemental nourishments.
· Responsible for proper counting, storage and security of medications, including narcotics, in accordance with established policies, procedures and state/federal guidelines.
· Upon move out or expiration of resident, ensure all scheduled and controlled substances, open liquids and injectables are collected and disposed of as prescribed by law.
· Defrost medication and food refrigerators and maintain temperature as required.
· Maintain general cleanliness of medication room and cart.
· Oversee ordering, return, and stocking of other medical supplies.
· Delegate appropriate tasks to Resident Caregiver(s) and Medication Technician(s).
· Assist the team with passing medications and provision of resident care as needed.
· Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care.
· Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director.
· Maintain confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company information.
· Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility, but provides shift supervision of Resident Caregivers and Medication Technicians and serves as a delegate supervisor in the absence of the Director of Wellness.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must satisfy all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.
Certificates and Licenses: Currently licensed or eligible for license as LPN/LVN or RN. CPR and First Aid certifications must be completed if not current, plus any additional licensing requirements in state(s) of practice.
