DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position directs and coordinates psychiatric and medical nursing care to support patient treatment and facility goals. The role requires strong leadership to guide nursing staff, manage clinical programs, and maintain compliance with professional standards. As a Nurse Manager 2, you will perform the following duties:

Program Coordination: Work with other disciplines to develop and support comprehensive treatment programs
Staff Leadership: Guide Nurse Manager 1s and Registered Nurse Supervisors, and evaluate staff performance
Compliance Management: Ensure nursing practices follow hospital policies and state and federal standards
Operational Support: Assist with budget planning, equipment needs, and administrative responsibilities
Clinical Direction: Assign and supervise care based on patient status, required interventions, and staff competency

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years as a Nurse Manager 1 (commonwealth title) in a facility providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; or
Eight years of professional nursing experience, including three years in a managerial capacity providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; and a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration. A master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of the required general professional nursing work experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years in a managerial capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

This position is not subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.

You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

- Nurse Manager 1
Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower class by the posting closing date with no break in service.
