Responsibilities

Outpatient Coder Auditor Manager is responsible for OP Coding Services and supervises Coder Auditor Trainees, Coder Auditors and Coder Auditor Supervisors. Ensures that the OP Coder Auditors perform their designated tasks synergistically with other concerned departments and personnel. The OP Coder Auditor Manager works closely with Vice President/Directors of Coding, Health Information Department to be instrumental in supplementing assistance to these departmental functions pertaining to Coding. OP Coder Auditor Manager will manage the team to review and analyze documentation present in the medical record to determine diagnoses and procedures as described by the physicians of record; utilizing the International Classifications of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) in accordance with regulatory agencies and hospital specific guidelines. Determination of code assignment is based on the official American Health Association (AHA) guidelines in addition to hospital specific and regulatory guidelines. The OP Coder Auditor Manager reviews entered coded data and other abstracted data from the medical record into PHMI's electronic information system, facilitating Health Information Services department's indexing responsibility for internal use (such as to support medical care evaluation studies), and mandated reporting requirements. Much of the Outpatient Coder Auditor Manager day is dedicated to managing the clinical OP coding practices. He or she defines, delegates, prioritizes, and schedules projects for his or her team. Outpatient Coder Auditor Manager has significant discretion to plan projects, evaluate performance, resolve day-to-day issues, and develop and refine new coding processes.


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Required qualifications:

  1. Medical Graduate, PA or Nursing Graduate.
  2. CCS is required.
  3. Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, APC's.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. 1+ year of clinical experience in acute care setting preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding in an acute care setting preferred.
  3. Basic computer experience required.
  4. Use of an encoder software product for code assignment in an acute care setting required.
  5. Computer data entry with 10-key preferred, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm preferred.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills.

Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $79,040.00 to $124,883.20 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
