Who You Are
The Operations Systems and Modeling AI team at Lockheed Martin Aerospace is seeking an Operations AI Engineer (Level 2) who will play a key role in developing, deploying, and maintaining AI-based solutions tailored for production operations. This position focuses on applying advanced artificial intelligence techniques to solve complex operational challenges, delivering impactful results that enhance efficiency and drive productivity. This position will be responsible for overseeing development and deployment of AI solutions, big data analysis, and front-end development for AI and results based applications.
What You Will Be Doing
- Assist in the development and testing of AI applications that support production‑operations use cases.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to apply sound software‑development practices that promote code quality and scalability.
- Participate in gathering and documenting requirements from production teams, translating key operational challenges into functional specifications.
- Contribute to front‑end development efforts, building intuitive user interfaces that enable end-users to interact with AI‑driven tools effectively.
- Perform data extraction, cleaning, and exploratory analysis on large‑volume production datasets to support model training and performance monitoring.
- Help deploy AI solutions in pilot environments, provide basic user training, and gather feedback to drive incremental improvements.
- Support change‑management activities by communicating updates to end‑users and ensuring that the tools remain maintainable, adaptable, and aligned with future operation needs.
This role involves directly interfacing with technical and non-technical users to truly understand their needs and then rapidly iterating to develop an application that they will love to use.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML Engineering or a related technical field
- A basic understanding of relational databases and database management
- Proficiency in Python and foundational machine learning concepts, with the ability to independently develop, train, and evaluate models leveraging libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Experience developing full stack web apps using modern frameworks, with additional hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Generative AI (GenAI)
- A basic understanding of relational databases and database management
- Proficiency in Python and foundational machine learning concepts, with the ability to independently develop, train, and evaluate models leveraging libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $86,100 - $151,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
