Responsibilities Essential Functions of the CAA Determines, prepares, and ensures necessary medications, equipment, and adjunct therapies for the administration of anesthetics. Initiates a plan of anesthesia care (general, regional, monitored anesthesia care) under the supervision or direction of an attending anesthesiologist. Prepares and tests anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning. Inserts and/or uses invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of the patient’s status under anesthesia. Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and management of airway; cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neuromuscular status; and emergence and recovery from an anesthetic. Supervises, instructs and evaluates student anesthetists. Qualifications Licensure/Certification: Graduate of accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Program Maintains current certification in Healthcare Provider/BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Experience: None.
