Advertised Job Summary
Under the direction of the SC Child Care Resource & Referral (SC CCR &R) Community Engagement Manager and in conjunction with the Communications Coordinator, the Outreach Specialist position is field-based in Richland County and oversees and manages the promotion of services and related programs through statewide outreach activities. It is a 12-month, full-time research grant position with benefits as part of SC CCR &R hosted at the USC College of Education Child Development Research Center. Duties include providing information and materials about the services offered by SC CCR &R to families, child care providers, organizations, employers, and the community through trainings, conferences, community events, and meetings.
This position requires reliable transportation and the ability to travel to conduct/attend on-site outreach events, meetings, and community events and perform other job duties throughout the state. This position also requires work outside of typical business hours (evenings, weekends).
Required Education and Experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, education, business, or other related field with minimum of 2 years of work experience that includes any of the following: training, outreach, marketing, event planning, administrative roles, logistics, or development.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Knowledge of marketing and outreach strategies, experience in public speaking, strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills that include Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and web-based software applications.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends, maintain reliable transportation to conduct/attend outreach events, meetings, and community events and perform other job duties throughout the state.
• Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
