About this role

Are you passionate about broadcast production and ready to be part of the team that brings news to life? KMGH, The E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a Part-Time Studio Technician who will play a vital role in our daily operations. You'll operate cameras during live newscasts, direct talent on the studio floor, and help maintain the technical excellence that our viewers expect. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced television environment while contributing to the stories that matter most to our community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Operate various broadcast equipment including, but not limited to; studio television cameras during live and taped productions, teleprompter, character generators, graphics software, computers.
  • Act as floor director during live and taped productions.
  • Assist in studio maintenance (cleaning, organization, possibly lighting), etc.
  • Assist as production grip on live and tape productions.
  • Navigate internet (web) and post video and text to station website.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Typically requires no prior experience in related field

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Live newscast production experience a plus
  • Non-linear editing experience required. Final Cut Pro experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of television station production operation equipment
  • Working knowledge of studio cameras, teleprompters and lighting
  • Must be reliable, dependable, possess a willingness to learn and be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for many hours, operate human lift equipment, climb stairs and ladders, and perform physical tasks as needed
